40%
of water used in the home is for toilet flushing.
The Interflush
kit fits on top of aWC siphon and connects to the front mounted
flush handle. The WC only flushes when the handle is held down,
and releasing the handle stops the flush (when pan is clear).
Only uses just what water is needed. Any less and the toilet
would need flushing again.
A very reasonably-priced product which will save you a great
deal on your Water Bills |

A
typical basin tap or shower running at mains pressure
can deliver over 20 litres per minute. This will apply to most
cold water supply and hot water supply running from a
combination boiler or pressurised hot water storage cylinder.
The easiest way to save water is to fit a flow restrictor
(available from
GreenBuildingStore.co.uk).
For basins these are in the form of a flow regulating access
valve. All outlets are now required to incorporate an isolating
valve so that the supply can be turned off for maintenance. Flow
regulating access valves simply replace the standard access
valve. For showers, the flow regulator is most easily fitted to
the flexible hose to the shower head. |

The
Hippo from
Hippo-the-Water-Saver
is made from durable heavy gauge Polyethylene, which opens up
when installed. The Hippo happily in the water underneath the
large cistern float. When the toilet is flushed, the water
confined within the Hippo is the volume saved. It also has a
small hole which acts as a relief valve allowing slow
circulation of water to prevent stagnation & evaporation.
A Hippo will save around 3 litres of water every time a toilet
is flushed. Research has shown Hippo will provide a 10-15%
saving on total water use. |

Put
patio plants in larger containers, as they need less
frequent watering and group small pots together in a tray of
water to help them survive hot days. Use bio-degradable gel
crystals in your planters; they can reduce the need for watering
from several times a day at peak temperatures to just once or
twice a week. |

If
you MUST use a hose (and you are allowed to in your
area), a trigger gun will allow you to switch off the hose when
you don't need it, rather than having to walk back to your tap
to switch it off every time. |
